Skateboarding Culture in the North East - My Idea
My Idea -
My idea is to do a short documentary about skateboarding culture in the north east and the community over the years.
For the documentary, I want it to be a mix of interviews, voiceover and clips from skate parts that have been release over the years that were filmed around the North East. All of the videos that I want to use are roughly from the past 10+ years.
Some of the videos I know which I may use that were filmed in the North East:
- Gasoline
- Crusties Thrust
- Northern Souls
- Pigs in Wigs
- Bishcam
- Way Up North
- Coast to Coast
These are just a handful of skate videos filmed in the North East that I could use.
For the interviews in my documentary, I know a few people that have been involved in the skateboarding community and culture over past years that I could speak with to learn more about how it was. As of recent months I have also met and spoken with members of the community that have been around for many years who, from in my own time, have had conversations about how it was.

Interview Questions -
- Do you like skating in the North East?
- How long have you been skating?
- What go you into skating?
- What do you think about the skateboarding community as a whole, especially in the North East?
- How has your experience been with those in the skate community?
- In your experience as a participant in skateboarding culture, would you say mental health is discussed enough? If not, how do you think as a community they could better express their mental health?
- Do you think the community as a whole is accepting to anyone and everyone?
- Do you have anything to say to people who don't understand the culture and community, or those who see it as a problem/nuisance?
